The Health Navigator program provides support and advocacy to members of First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities living in urban areas by:

Facilitating and coordinating access to health services

Responding to cultural and spiritual needs

Connecting with Indigenous and community partners to ensure culturally safe care

Scheduling medical appointments
Referrals to other services
Support in hospitals or other health facilities
Support in filling out forms and obtaining the necessary documents (health card, hospital card, Indian status card)
Emotional and cultural support
Access to traditional medicines such as sage, sweetgrass, tobacco and cedar
Connecting with Elders or Knowledge Keepers for cultural support
Advocacy for patients’ needs and rights
A better understanding of the health system
Translation services (Naskapi, Cree, Innu, French, English)
