Family Violence Prevention Manual
This manual is intended to provide a general understanding of the roots and contemporary context of family violence within Indigenous communities in Canada, with a focus on the Greater Montreal Area. It offers background information, frameworks, and recommendations for service providers in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke working with Indigenous community members who are at risk of, or have experienced, family violence.
This project aimed to synthesize and share health research and community-based knowledge while highlighting the often “taboo” and lesser-known lived realities within our community.
This resource has been designed as a community-grounded, practical tool to support culturally safe prevention, response, and healing initiatives.
